Diabetic breakthrough!

My husband is trying a new insulin. Lantus 25 units in the morning along with Glucotrol 10mg twice a day. He called me at work the other day all excited because his glucose level was 159. It hasn't been that low in a long time. For those who don't know about diabetes, regular glucose levels should be 70-120 fasting. This can vary depending on how you are taught. A diabetic, who's glucose has been in the 300-400's, to be down anywhere near normal is great!!! I hope this is the beginning of better health for my husband. He really deserves to feel better!

Where would you rather see links?

Working on my page and wondered where you would rather see links? On a separate page or on the sidebar. They can take up lots of room! Any suggestions?

Adding Spironolactone to diabetes medication regimen

Here's an interesting study regarding spironolactone as an additive medication for diabetics. I am always looking for new things related to diabetes because of my husband's battle with it. Hope it helps others!

It's your favorite Nurse Practitioner student's birthday!

Hello to all!
Today is my 38th birthday.
It's been a great day so far. I went to physical therapy for the bone spur in my neck. I wish my neck felt as good as it does after therapy on a permanent basis. They have been using heat, massage, and electrical stimulation. I was a little worried at first about anything electrical since the nerve conduction test (torture). The electrical therapy didn't hurt a bit. It actually felt pretty good. Then, my hubby took me shopping and I will open my presents later tonight. Not a bad birthday!

Here's some good information regarding the health crisis caused by hurricane Katrina. I can't imagine just how bad it's going to be after the next few weeks. Disasters like this make a person realize what is truly important in life. Hope everyone who reads this is okay and has managed to remain unscathed by Katrina.
